A Birthday Celebration
On 6th July 1851 the first service of worship was held in the new church built for the Free Church of Scotland congregation on the corner of North Terrace and Pulteney Street. So we have just had our 166th birthday and we will celebrate this on Sunday 9th July.

In 1851 they named the church “Chalmers Church” in memory of the Rev Dr Thomas Chalmers, the Scot who had led the ‘Disruption’ in the Church of Scotland and became the first Moderator of the Free Church. In 1929 Chalmers Church and the Flinders Street Presbyterian Church, both being city congregations of the Presbyterian Church of South Australia, united and adopted the name “Scots Church”.

Plan to be at our special celebratory morning tea following worship on Sunday 9th.      Rev Norah Norris
