Syrian Refugees

While looking for something in some back copies of TALK, I came across an item with the headline 'SYRIAN REFUGEE EMERGENCY'. It was written four years ago!

In the last four years we have continued to hear about crisis and emergency appeals as four million Syrians have become refugees and a further eight million Syrians are displaced within their own country. Innocent families, adults and children, fleeing after a nightmare of conflict and violence, bloodshed and death, have been forced to leave behind what is left of homes and belongings and the little they manage to keep is often lost as they travel, so that many have nothing but the clothes on their backs. A partnership of Christian agencies is working desperately to provide emergency relief packs to families and to give what support they can to those outside government organised camps.

No doubt you will have received or heard urgent requests from many different groups. The Uniting Church supports the National Council of Churches in Australia's agency, ACT FOR PEACE, as it works with partner churches in the international partnership of churches together (ACT). Also we have our own UCA SYRIAN REFUGEE APPEAL. We can all do something, however small, to respond to this appalling human tragedy. To donate online, you can visit the following websites:
