On Sunday June 22nd we celebrated the inauguration of the Uniting Church in Australia, the UCA’s 37th birthday! As part of the worship service this day, Rev Dr Dean Eland led a Candle Liturgy of Thanksgiving where five candles were lit:
For our heritage in the Congregational tradition
For our heritage in theMethodist tradition
For our heritage in the Presbyterian tradition
To celebrate that many others, from different traditions,
are now a vital part of the Uniting Church tradition
For a future beckoning to us from the far horizons,
the shape of which we are yet to know.
After the service we celebrated with a cake at fellowship cut by Mrs Margaret Nolan, member of Church Council and Chairperson of the Pastoral Care Committee. Margaret is one of our many valued members and volunteers, all whom are vital to the Scots Community.
