Fellowship News for February

It was a most enjoyable afternoon in December when we gathered for a shared lunch to celebrate our end of the year gathering. There was a good attendance, including our friends from Trinity Church at Alberton, and the Regional Co-Coordinator for Adelaide North West, Mrs. Val Hutchinson. Margaret Nolan told us a Christmas story, and Jan Cockington on the piano accompanied us as we sang a few favourite Christmas Carols. We all feel that our year has been worthwhile, and even though few in numbers, we approach 2015 with confidence.

Our first meeting is Thursday February 5th, Rev Norah Norris is Facilitator and Mary Thomas is in helping in the kitchen. Norah is organizing a most interesting programme recalling earlier days of fellowship groups - including those at Chalmers Church. So I urge you all to come along, BYO lunch, at noon. An invitation is extended to all members of the congregation to join us. If however the weather forecast is for 38 degrees or over, please do not venture out, but stay in the comfort of your own home.

Affiliation fees are now due – if you receive a copy of “Together” magazine this is included in your affiliation – please put $20 in an envelope, with your name on, and hand to the Treasurer, Lillias Thomson. The amount to pay for those who receive their “Together” directly by mail is $5 affiliation.

I hope you will all note in your diary for each month, our meetings on the first Thursday in the month, so that you do not book anything else on that day.

This year’s World Day of Prayer Service has been written by the World Day of Prayer Committee inTable Feast The Bahamas. More than three million people in over 170 countries join in a service and ours in the city will be on Friday 6th March at 1.00pm at St Stephen's Lutheran Church, 152 Wakefield Street - between Pulteney Street and Frome Street. Public transport is recommended as there is only limited parking available. Afternoon tea will follow the service.

State Mission Fellowship meets at Scots on the 4th Tuesday morning of each month at 10.30am. At the February meeting on the 24th, there will be a special Service of Commissioning for members of National & World Mission Support, and the South Australian Team of Frontier Services. Morning Tea is available before the service, and a light lunch follows – all for a most nominal amount. Everyone is most welcome.     Mary Thomas
