History Week
Scots is once again taking part in the May History Festival. This will include guided tours each Tuesday and Thursday in May (except 30th May) at 11.00am. Thank you to Jeff Schapel who will be tour guide and is sure to give visitors a fascinating insight into the History of Scots.
If you can’t make one of the 11.00am tours but would like to take part, you can take a self-guided tour with your smart phone! Visit this page on our website to begin: scotschurch.org/tour
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (28 May - 4 June 2017)
The theme for this year is "Reconciliation - The Love of Christ Compels Us" from 2 Corinthians 5:14-20. The resources prepared on this theme have been circulated world-wide by the World Council of Churches and the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity. They have been adapted by the National Council of Churches in Australia for use in this country and resources for personal use during the week will be available at Scots Church.
Reconciliation Week begins on 27th May, the anniversary of the 1967 referendum that acknowledged the rightful place of Indigenous people in the Australian population, and runs until Mabo Day, remembering the 1992 recognition of the pre-existence of native title to land in Australia. It is also the time when we recognize the covenant relationship between the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) and the Uniting Church in Australia (UCA).
