Frontier Services

Keeping the Wheels Turning
frontierAlthough the SA Frontier Services Team has united with the SA National and World Mission Support Group to form the SA Mission Support Group, our support for Uniting Church's Frontier Services continues as before, providing speakers for meetings and services and arranging events to raise funds for the work.

There will be two special events in the coming months. The first will be the Open Garden on 23rd September - a beautiful way to spend a Saturday morning – and the other is a concert presented by the ever popular South Australian Army Band on Sunday 14th October at Burnside City UC. See What's On, page ten, for details of these events.

The work of the Patrol Ministers is at the heart of Frontier Services' ministry to people in remote areas of our land, but patrols are a costly way of doing ministry. The patrol vehicles need to be well maintained to cover long distances on rough roads and provide comfortable living space for the minister. Tanks of fuel, spare tyres, minor repairs and major annual servicing do not come cheaply. And then there is emergency help for people in the patrol area, perhaps food and spare clothing are needed. But over the years countless people in isolated situations have testified to the blessing brought by the "patrol padre" who comes personally to each one and has time to listen and talk as a God-sent friend.

Funds raised by our upcoming events will support the Parkin-Sturt Patrol in northern South Australia staffed by Pastor Paul Glazbrook. Read about the work of Frontier Services in the Frontier News magazines available at Scots or perhaps follow Paul's blog on the internet. Donations for this work in South Australia can be sent to Mrs Yvonne Windsor, Frontier Services Team Treasurer, UCA Synod of SA, GPO Box 2145, Adelaide 5000.
