Leadership in Uniting Church Adult Fellowships

NATIONAL
In mid-2018 the National Committee of Uniting Church Adult Fellowships will move to South Australia and already planning is well under way, with most of the membership of the committee already nominated and thinking ahead about the activities in which they will be involved.

The Chairperson will be Janet Woodward and Max Howland Secretary. Lindsay Parker from Naracoorte will be Treasurer. The National Committee serves for a three year term, so will be based here in SA until mid-2021.

Currently the National Committee is based in Victoria.  The National Chairperson is Mrs Margaret Pedler of Warrnambool. She is originally from South Australia, having grown up in Adelaide and then, after marriage to her husband Daryl, lived at Cummins on Eyre Peninsula before moving to Victoria. She was State President of UCAF in Victoria in 2007/8.

Margaret has chosen "Living Water - Come and Drink" as the theme around which Fellowships are invited to think and work during this current three years. National projects will have a focus on fresh water. In Papua New Guinea, UnitingWorld is working with the United Church of PNG to provide clean water storage and village catchment systems and this project will be supported. A second project is in Vanuatu where the church is providing fresh water and toilets in the Paonangisu area for both the local villages and the increasing number of tourists in the district. The third water-related project is the provision of bottled water for Frontier Services Outback Links volunteers, people who give their time to provide short term assistance on remote properties.

There will be a National Celebration, a gathering for people from all over Australia, at Geelong in Victoria in April this year.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA
The Rev Lindsay Faulkner concluded his two year term as President of UCAF in South Australia at the end of 2015. The new President is Mrs Heather Maynard from the Burnside City Uniting Church. She has chosen for her theme in 2016 "The Word, our Source of Hope." We look forward to meeting Heather at UCAF functions during the year.
