The Honour Boards

After World War I, the churches, towns and other community organisations in Australia set up “Honour Boards” containing lists of those who had served in the Great War (WW I). At Scots, there are the honour boards from the Flinders Street Presbyterian Church and Chalmers Church (the original name of this church building) for WW I, and the honour board for Scots Church from World War II.

A cross next to a name or a name listed under a cross indicates that the person had been killed in the war. The lists include several members from the same family. Many families lost all their male children, or father and sons.

There are three boards in the eastern foyer of the church.

This Roll of Honour commemorates the members of Chalmers Church (the original name of this church building) who served in World War I, 1914 - 1918.

 

 This Roll of Honour commemorates the members of the Flinders Street Presbyterian Church who served in World War I, 1914 - 1918. The plaque was transferred to Scots Church North Terrace after the sale of the Flinders Street Church in 1956.

 

This Roll of Honour commemorates the members of Scots Church who served in World War II, 1939 - 1945.
